Have you just bought new external USB drive and tried to copy file bigger than 4GB ? Did you get error while copying that?
If your answer is yes then you also facing the same issue I faced. Most of USB drives available in the market are formatted to use using FAT32 file system and under FAT32 file system there is a limitation for maximum file size so you cannot copy any file bigger than 4GB.
To overcome with this problem you can use CONVERT command to convert FAT32 to NTFS file system which is more reliable and you won’t face file size issue.
You can use CONVERT command to change FAT32 partition to NTFS without formatting the data please perform the following steps.
- Attach the USB drive which you want to convert.
- Double click on my computer icon and check if new drive letter appears for attached drive
- Please write down the drive letter assigned to USB drive and also write down Label for the drive appeared in my computer.
- Click on the start - > Run.
- Type cmd and hit enter
- On the command Prompt type the following command
|
Press enter and when prompted for drive Label enter the exact label as you see in My Computer for attached USB drive. Again press enter to start conversion process.
I hope this helps :) |
